Pre-Potty Training

If anyone has any ideas I would love your advice on what has worked for you and your kids. I am not trying to potty train Trey, but I think that it isn't hurting him to get the feel of it and what will happen in the next few months. We he starts grunting I ask him if he needs to go potty and he will run to the bathroom to his little potty. I haven't been able to get him to go pee yet, but he has gone # 2 three times already and it is because I catch him and it is alot easier for me to clean up after. :) Which I wish that he was ready for it, but not quite yet. Anyway, just open for any ideas to get him ready for it. Oh yeah and I also got some Reese's Pieces that sit on the counter to give him some encouragement that anytime he goes that he will get that treat. So we will see how it goes!

One of the hardest parts of motherhood-POTTY TRAINING!!! What your doing is great. I got the dora topper for the toliet and encourage them to sit. Give them a stool so they can do it themself-also I went to the dollar store and got a bunch of toys and treats and let them pick after sitting on the toliet-they will let you know when they are ready-Also we let them buy a pack of underwear they picked out!we are currently trying to train Roman-boys are harder them girls so will do it together!

The treats really worked with Michael and his pee pee's and money worked with his poopies ;o). I think you just need to find what he loves most and then reward him with that. It has been a long process with Michael, but it's really rewarding for both him and me when he got it down. I couldn't force Michael to do anything, but just kept encouraging him and dancing around and singing when he did something in the potty. Another thing that really helped with Michael was putting real underwear on him so he could really feel how uncomfortable it is. Good luck Megs! xo!

When I potty trained Jaylee, she did the exact same thing. At 18 months I would be able to tell when she needed to poop, so I would run her into the bathroom. It was harder to get her to go pee. I think the reward system is great, and I would also have her call Jared, her grandparents, and anyone else would be excited and make a big deal about her going in the potty. Buying underwear is a good idea, and telling them they can only wear it if they keep them dry. But really, you just need to take cues from him. He'll let you know if he's ready. If he seems to pick up on it, and have few accidents then great, if he isn't interested and has many accidents, he probably isn't ready.

Sorry.. no advice for you, but I bet giving him candy everytime works wonders! So, I work for Brett Labrum, he owns a few companies here in St. George, and I am his assistant. I really enjoy my job, and that is probably why i'm not in school right now. I got my associates degree and then thought I would 'take a break' and I have never been able to go back full time. I have taken some classes since, but its hard to go full time and work full time, and for now I just enjoy my job. Thanks for asking! :) How are you doing?

I've been looking for tips on potty training for boys too! Annabel was potty trained like instantly, and as for Trey I am really nervous! I hear horror stories of potty training their boys. I don't even know what I am going to do, but I am sick of diapers :) I find anything, I will let you know
